Halloween Tradition's You May Have

Scary Hair

My mom and I have the tradition of going to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios in California every year since 2013! We usually go during early to mid-October but this year we went on the 22nd of September and it was AWESOME!

Another tradition we have is where we spend the 31st of October marathoning our favorite horror movies and we always bake the Pillsbury Halloween cookies to eat and hand out candy to trick or treaters at home.

Yeah! They do mazes and a terror tram and it's so much fun. This year they had a Blumhouse maze (that featured Happy Death Day, The Purge, and Sinister), a Jigsaw/Saw maze, a Titans of Terror terror tram (featuring Leatherface, Freddy Krueger, Chucky, and Jason Voorhees), an American Horror Story maze, a The Shining Maze, an Ash vs Evil Dead maze, and an Insidious maze. It's the one thing I look forward to every year as both a massive horror fan and as a huge fan of Universal Studios.

Halloween actually came to Finland few years ago. And it's not celebrated that widely. It's cosidered as commerical holiday introduced by greedy shop owners, to sell kids horror stuff. There was holiday before but it wasn't anything like halloween.

Almost the same here Nef , probably proved more popular over the last 12 or so years .

Seems like EVERY Halloween now its pitch black at half 4 FREEZING Cold wind and peeing it down .

Mostly its only me for the movies . Jas has a more wide range of taste movie wise . The Fellas no intrest in Horror of any kind at all . Boring Gits ??

Fairly accurate. Just like most western traditions and festivals this was stolen by the Christian church in order to stamp out celtic pagan beliefs. The proper festival being Samhain "End Of Summer" although it does have elements dating back further. I enjoy the horror aspects though as they are great when you're a kid, but the festival itself is pretty much dead here now in the UK, but yes the shops still try and sell the same tat every year lol

Awards

My wife and I thought it would be a hoot to get married on Halloween, so it's actually our anniversary and an easy one to remember at that. It got overshadowed very quickly, however, by having a child just growing into the Holiday. Now it's his favorite day of the year (despite his birthday being a week before) as he doesn't quite get Christmas yet, but he loves dressing up and having strangers give him candy, which we trade out for stuff that's not total garbage. We have a big bag of all-natural candy laying in wait for the purpose. For me it's always been an excuse to do horror movie marathons. I've never really been into the whole dress-up aspect.
