The Shining FAC: This is my costliest premium (I’m afraid to open it 😅), I do love its image over white, and such nice gloss texture detail!

Ex-Machina Manta: This was my first premium. Again a simple gloss image over a textured fabric like slip. Also that robot is hot 🥰

Apocalypse Now Nova: just look at it…!

Texas Chain Saw Massacre Turbine: I’ve a few steels of this, but just the one slip.  It’s always going to be a favourite, having watched it as a boy 🧸

Dawn of the Dead Second Sight: of it was this or their excellent Drive for my non-steel entry.  Great imagery, great quality, great fold out and three versions of the film to enjoy.

Thanking @R1s1ngs0n for the challenge.  These things are indeed fun!

So I will give this a try. Here's my order  and why. (although I love them all)

#1. Cinemuseum my favorite retailer.  CMA#06 Full Metal Jacket. Love the movie and one of the first that got me into  collecting premiums. 20220918_143618.thumb.jpg.16c2edab1f96bbc132488a29752cef63.jpg

20220918_143625.thumb.jpg.bba592a50850e3b66a05766c1dfb32ed.jpg

#2. Everythingblu. BP 009 Shaun of the Dead. Already owned the previous version they had released and saw this and the bug kicked in and ordered it. Love the detail on the cover. Plus a pretty good flick. 20220918_143734.thumb.jpg.3fb130275e3b3d840d68934544f422c5.jpg

#3. UHDCLUB UC 08. Dunkirk. (no steelbook)  A really solid edition of think with the plain wood and job they did with the front and back. Only regret is I only have 1 edition of the 3 different ones. 20220918_143834.thumb.jpg.fe21bde82978af5b21561bd8b4a2b3ef.jpg

20220918_143827.thumb.jpg.912b3d8c3a195f8333f252093e541095.jpg

#4. Blufans BE 32. Ant- man.  A lintucaler I could of used for previous challange. Got this from fleabay for a not a deal. I had trouble picking this or the next one for this slot. 20220918_144055.thumb.jpg.8b6f0817db9904cbe4b51f158458e6eb.jpg

#5. Filmarena #156.  Top Gun. A classic movie with an updated premium lintucaler cover. It's just plain awesome. 20220918_144043.thumb.jpg.0a5bfcd71a0fabfe06fe9d7c77562dd8.jpg

Thanks for doing this. Just a great way to participate 😀

Another cool challenge! thanks @R1s1ngs0n!

In no particular order, I chose five of my favorites. I chose from 5 different retailers for variety, and also tried no to post too many doubles of what has already been shared. I would of put 'It' Black Barons as my first post here but I shared that with the last challenge. Something about that edition continues to grow on me.

Blade Runner 2049 Maniacs Box : one of the best movies deserves a magnificent boxset like this.

2022284693_IMG-73289245.thumb.jpg.abfa0f0c634f976183db3830ecaea55f.jpg

Next is Pet Sematary OC from Cinemuseum. This holds a special place for me because this was my first OC from CM. Like others that posted in this challenge, they are also my favorite premium retailer.

Third is It Follows from KimchiDVD. I could rewatch this countless times. Short and sweet. Perfect thriller with a great female lead.

Fourth is the Prestige OC from Manta. After originally buying just the FS, I was blown away by the quality and ended up buying the OC. The FS and Lenti's are all awesome.

And last but not least is the Amazing Spider-Man 1&2 OC from WeET.  My first WeET purchase, actually just like Prestige, I originally owned just the FS's for both films and ended up selling them and getting the OC!

Okay here are my top 5. My list would probably look a little different if I could have multiple from the same retailer.

#5 Spider-Man No Way Home 4K from Amazon Japan. This was very hard to obtain and covers all the "premium" bases.

4. Alien 4k from FAC. I see this is on others list as well. Spectacular release, and looking forward to them eventually doing an Aliens release.

3. 300 4k from HDZeta. Beautiful release. I should have bought the one click, and I probably will 🤣. Probably my favorite Steelbook of all time.

2. Avengers:  Age of Ultron One Click from WeET. This is a stunning release. I'm looking forward to opening up the Lentis as I haven't had a chance to yet. The Steelbook is gorgeous as well. This would probably be number 4 on my list if I could include multiple UHD Club releases, but fantastic nevertheless.

1. Blade Runner: The Final Cut 4k from UHD Club. If I could have included multiple UHD Club releases, Blade Runner 2049 4k would have been 2nd place on this list. I like 2049's box slightly more, but I feel Blade Runner is the overall better set, and in my opinion, the definitive Blade Runner set.

As for everyone, it's not easy to choose 3 lenticulars from your collection!

My favourite will remain for a long time Dory from Blufans in double lenticular. I didn't know about its lenticular effect and to my surprise the lenticular has a debossing 😍

(I don't know of any other lenticulars that have it but I would be curious to know if it is the case!)

IMG_20220918_225337.thumb.jpg.7eba716f72cc75a198fb4f4b2cacc48e.jpg

IMG_20220918_223304.thumb.jpg.9fa1785e256bf55b4c10db84f21c0086.jpg

For the next edition, I chose The Amazing Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield, who is not loved by everyone in this role but I really liked it and this lenticular from WeetCollection works very well, a real favorite 🥰

IMG_20220918_225154.thumb.jpg.1ff5c7991093b2c898cf4da611d3e2d2.jpg

And finally the Constantine edition from MantaLab with a nice depth on the lenticular between the character and the monsters!

When I thought about all the cool editions I was able to acquire during the last few years, at first I was like....

star-trek-the-wrath-of-khan-star-trek2.g

"How can I choose between all that stuff".

Anyway I knew my first pick instantly and so I decided to go for 5 releases that have impressed me, got me excited, really mean something to me and turned out awesome. Besides my issue one pick I will not rank them and also not claim that nothing else I have could be higher on my list if I would rank them, but I feel that each of the 5 shown here is truely deserving of being choosen for this challenge.

The first Premium Edition I want to present is the Legend of the Galactic Heroes Complete Collection Limited Edition Boxset.

After I first laid eyes on this amazing Anime Masterpiece it quickly became my favorite Anime of all time (it would also be my favorite series if I would do a list with live action included). It is simply PERFECTION and I love it so much. So for years I waited for a release that would be english friendly.

The day I found out that it would finally get a release was truely glorious. And I will be eternally be grateful to @Masterblaster who helped me get this (as the shop did not ship internationally).

I love it and this would be my favorite premium that I own.

More pictures can be found here.

Now onward to the other items. HDzeta is a Premium retailer I really love, I think they create some outstanding editions and with The Dark Knight Trilogy OCs + the extra Motherbox they created one of the coolest Premium releases ever. It is such a great set for one of the greatest Movie Trilogies ever. Batman is also my favorite Superhero (always was) and I collect the comics for a long time now. So this Set is really special to me, I also love the MP Exclusive extra foil poster @ksosk created for us.

newsteelbook223.JPG

Next I want to feature the amazing FAC Alien release, especially the Maniac Box. I include it because Alien is one of my most beloved Movies and for a long time FAC was on the top of my favorite retailer list and they did some amazing releases (don't forget T2 Maniac among others). All the different editions in this release are awesome and the Maniac is so beautiful.

Perfect release.

Newsteelbook 252 - Media Psychos - Alien Filmarena Edition 1-4 - Maniac Boxset.JPG

Now we go to my current number 1 Retailer, can't have this list without WeET. I choose The original Spider-Man Trilogy because, I love that incarnation of Spider-Man, we never got a premium release for it before and WeET nailed it. The fact that all 3 movies (each with 2 editions) is brought together in 1 OC is simply genius and the excecution was also perfect. WeET is the undisputed king of Full Slips and with this release they created one of the best Premium ever.

MP Challenge Spider-Man.JPG

Last I want to show the very cool MCU Infinity Saga Boxset. Yeah Superheroes again 😅. I included this (and not a random premium releases of on of the 23 movies), because this Saga is such an amazing achievement, that I think will never be repeated again in history. I was already a fan of comics before it was mainstream to be a Fan. I knew all these characters before and seeing them brought to live in such a gigantic and epic way was truely a significant experience. The MCU may go on for a long time but I think it will never again be able to repeat this awesomeness that it called the Infinity Saga.

Newsteelbook 317- Media Psychos - Marvel Infinity Saga.JPG

Okay that turned out to be a longer post 😅. Thank you @R1s1ngs0n for this fun challenge.

Bro, your collection never fails to stagger me…

Thanks for another cool challenge, @R1s1ngs0n ! I'm going to run out of premiums to showcase at this rate! I have been looking and still cannot locate my membership card :( Also, another word about my collection, I prefer to leave them sealed, I enjoy them more that way; I figure I can watch them other places, and to me, these are art! So, my first choice, and the European retailer, one of my favorite movies:

This is my Alita Battle Angel Black Barons One Click. I really like the close up on this one! Number two, and an Asian retailer:

My Blade Runner Final Cut Manta Lab One Click! A classic scifi entry, I owe having this one to @Masterblaster for helping me find it! Third, the non steelbook:

My District 9 MAG/MPM Bluray Scanavo case. Just looks great on my shelf! Fourth:

Manta Lab Joker One Click! Once I saw this movie, I knew I needed to own a premium steelbook edition! Last but not least:

Ready Player One Manta Lab One Click! One of my top ten favorites and a must have for me!

Believe it or not, my favorite retailer is actually HDZeta Gold, which you wouldn't know from this post, but I don't really own all that many yet. I'm sure as this challenge moves along I will showcase those I do. Enjoying seeing all these steels, even as the envy builds in me!

Hopefully it's okay to define "premium edition" as "anything that costs more than a basic amaray." Here are five from me:

IMG_0803.thumb.jpg.c0f4c22d91fbb5004820d02c79077687.jpg

Sleeping Beauty—The first steelbook I ever bought. My favorite Disney animation, beautiful cover art, good embossing, and shimmery metallic. Perfection. Many steelbooks have come along since then, but this is still one I would choose to keep if I had to get rid of the others.

IMG_0804.thumb.jpg.9e7f05e0e034f23bf5fe7a6933a62006.jpg

Romeo + Juliet (Blufans)—This was the first full premium steelbook edition I got, at a time when I thought I only really wanted a shelf of steelbooks, not all the extra stuff. That didn't last, obviously. :) I love this edition for being my first lenticular slipcover edition, and because I remember going to the theater to see this movie repeatedly when it came out. At the time, it blew my mind (and I still love it).

IMG_0805.thumb.jpg.1cd92a4c5604c7cede1532812d1f8356.jpg

Lost in Translation—One of my all-time favorite movies, and not a movie I expected would ever get a steelbook release, let alone such a nice one as this. Back in the days when Scarlett did stuff besides Marvel... sigh...

IMG_0802.thumb.jpg.3a1cff295c93a594d0e324e860e432a1.jpg

Blade Runner 2049 (Filmarena)—I don't usually get every steelbook edition of any movie, even one I like a lot. But there was such a treasure trove of BR2049 editions in the couple of years after the film's release, and I had fun collecting them all (in fact, the HDz BR2049 slips were what originally brought me to MP). I've since sold all but a favorite few, and this is one that I might pick as my overall favorite. It's the double-lenticular slip from the FAC edition, which I love because it uses concept art. And I've switched the FAC steelbook with one from Japan that was not very widely available. I like how it fits with the theme of this edition; I also like it because it's just a little odd, not quite like any other steelbook I've seen.

IMG_0806.thumb.jpg.b3ba8108e4e1483eba0614a9e19493af.jpg

Until the End of the World (Criterion)—I love Wim Wenders, and I chose this Criterion edition because it felt like waiting forever to finally get to see the full cut of this movie! I used to watch the (abridged) VHS over and over in college, and I always wanted to see the mythical full version. It turns out, the full version is amazing. Worth the wait—and I even like the cover art Criterion chose for it.

Love this weeks challenge @R1s1ngs0n - well done.

First up from Kimchi are two of my favorite modern action films and great lenticulars to boot - The Raid and The Raid II. These wet some of the first “premiums” I bought back before I even knew what premiums were.

Next is one of my top 10 movies ever and my non-steelbook entry from UHD Club. The incomparable Blade Runner in a distinctive, one of a kind wood “book” packaging.

Next is my favorite one click from WeET (at least until I track down a reasonably priced Spider-Man trilogy set) Black Panther

Next for my European entry is the absolutely stunning maniac box for The Back To The Future Triology

Finally, something of a grail in that it took me a surprisingly long time to track down, the Manta Lab one Click for Jordan Peele’s Us7EBCCF50-F5ED-48CA-B59F-6E5C32B986B3.thumb.jpeg.c3e89c91e03b18d7a589c2c9eaf0c9ab.jpeg

Oh - and I still also have a challenge idea @extantsrevenge

CHALLENGE 1

  • Thor: The Dark World is my favorite lenticular. I like the depth effect and the lightning.
  • I prefer the 3D style of lenticular over the transition style. Doctor Strange and Captain America: The Winter Soldier are two other lentis I like that fit this category.
  • Note: I probably have a different favorite tucked away in one of my sealed One Clicks.

CHALLENGE 2

1. WeET | Black Panther - I love the texturing, foil, and minimalist design (Asian / Contains Steelbook)

2. Blufans | Doctor Strange - A true grail that I'm proud to own and happens to look amazing (Asian / Contains Steelbook)

3. Filmarena | Spider-Man: Far From Home - The design work is awesome and it's one helluva box (European / Contains Steelbook)

4. Novamedia | Guardians of the Galaxy - The only Novamedia OC box I have until I get my hands on Age of Ultron. It has my favorite Full Slip in it, too (Asian / Contains Steelbook)

5. Zavvi | Phase 3 Boxset - One of four boxsets cataloging every film of its respective phase. Only non-steelbook edition I own (European / Contains Non-Steelbook)

Challenge #2:

It seems like a lot of my favorites have been showcases already so I'll try to show some different slips..

  • Cinemuseum's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: A combination of beautiful art, texture, and spot gloss. Not quite WeET FS material but definitely high quality and worthy of having in my collection. Hopefully this fulfills the European release and non-steel release requirement. If not, I can dig something else up 😁

doAIiw3.jpg

  • Fanatic Selection Frozen II Double Lenticular: I honestly didn't get into Frozen until my daughter was old enough to watch. Even then, I thought it was just okay. However, I was blown away by the Frozen II teaser. The animation is next level and the scenery is just breathtaking at times. Fanatic selection was able to capture that with the slip, but especially the steelbook. This is honestly one of my favorite steelbooks.

FipRcfQ.jpgCZwCEon.jpg

  • Manta Lab's Godzilla vs. Kong FS: Admittedly, this is not one of my favorite films. However, this is nearing peak Manta FS quality. Gloss, texture, and holofoil are present all around. I particularly love the "debossed" rain on the back of the slip - a very nice touch. I think Manta comes closest to competing with WeET in the FS category (when they want to). I almost chose their Ex Machina FS for this but felt this slip has an extra level of detail. Oh - and let's not forget the super glossy, colorful, and embossed steelbook!

cKCjPXt.jpg

  • Black Barons' Alita: Battle Angel E1 slip: Another stunning FS. While I wasn't able to capture it in the photograph, this slip also has great detail and texturing on both sides. It also has that "velvet" finish to it that makes it REALLY hard not to touch without gloves 😂. This also contains the best steelbook for the film with embossing and spot metallic finishes.

  • Finally, HDZ's Wonder Woman Double Lenticular is easily Top 5 in my collection. I definitely prefer fullslips but if I had to keep only one lenti it would be this one. It is super crisp with wonderful contrast and color on both sides of the slip. Just a great job by HDZ all around. I also really like the film and remember it being one of the pleasant surprises that year.

Also - I think I have an idea for next week. It keeps coming to me and then I lose it again 😬

So many amazing editions to see with the new challenge 😍

@R1s1ngs0n what an awesome selection. I considered including the UHD Blade Runner too, is is so stunning and that Inglourious FS is a piece of art. I have the OC but was also able to get this FS and it is actually on of the few Premium edition I have opened 😵. I wish I had the Pan's Labyrinth FS extra but I only got the OC 😂. 2001 WCL 😍. Thanks again for this great challenge.

Interesting choices here @Reagh , I really like that Roman Holiday too.

@nexusjuan Alien 😍, Revenant 😮 . That WeET Thor is also so stunning, I got that too, I wish that someday WeET can continue to give us MCU releases.

Damn @hal56 you also really picked some great stuff, UHD Wooden boxes are simply great and the Fight Club Slip 😃, thankfully I have that extra.

@ukade2327 just in time for challenge 1 👍

@Veum cool editions, I also want to mention how much I love your MP SWAG you feature in all your pictures. To you have that ready to go or do you have to lay it out each time again?

excited-adorable.gif

Most impressive @Cornbuster such good choices.

I'm getting kinda speechless, everything is so amazing 😮 @InfiniteDoors

@KubricksYarbles I was not really a fan of Apocalypse now, but then I gave it another go and this time I really liked it, so I had to get that great edition too. Also ALICIA 😍, I simply love the Manta Lab release.

@ajames212 wow 3 editions that I don't have 😅

@Rambo 😲 Why can't FAC get their act together and give us cool releases again, they certainly knew how to do it in the past.

@ncraft I like how you started your post with 5 and it unfolded like an award show 🤣, I really like each and every choice you included.

@Adrip what a great Lenticular on that Finding Dory 👍

@Chief_lookout ALITA

alita battle angel high quality GIF

I love that OC, it is such a great edition. I also think the RPO is one of the most awesome OCs, it is the only OC I have ever opened 😲 .As a huge Gundam Fan seeing one on the Box and Slip is awesome.

@ethnosax I think the regular zavvi Steelbooks and The Criterion Edition would not count as a Premium, but I will allow it this time, because I like your post. I find it interesting that these edition came to mind when you saw the challenge. And thank you for joining the game 👍

Nice @Gary K, I think it is safe to say that UHD created something special with the Blade Runner & 2049 releases.

@Tonic24k thanks for joining the fun challenge and for sharing your beautiful editions with us.

Great post @GuyIncognit0, I love how you also show some of the Steelbooks. The Alita SB is one of my favorites and I also have to agree with you on the Frozen 2 SB, so beautiful. I hope we will get a Frozen 3 😅, Anna and Elsa are awesome.

Again this challenge is reminding me why I collect Steelbooks/Premiums/Special Editions.

Challenge 1 is now over! Looking forward to many more posts for Challenge 2.

Unfortunately have a small collection due to only recently getting started (also due to avoiding bankruptcy from purchasing every beautiful premium I lay my eyes upon 🥲). Luckily I’ve got enough of a variety to participate in this one! Put my totally awesome design skills to use to crop and collage each premium together so you don’t have to look at a billion pictures (aka I put way too much time into this). So here it goes!

5. Train to Busan - Plain Archive

Plain Archive really does some beautiful designs and I’m so sad I got in the game so late and missed some earlier ones (Handmaiden and I Saw the Devil pleasssse). Nice well done collage on the front, and a nice illustration on the back with a nice light metallic printing. Awesome city landscape image on the steel with nice type treatment and position. Plus they tried glow in the dark which is pretty dope (turns out it’s difficult to photograph that). All around a well designed premium!

4. Knives Out - The On

Weirdly I’m a sucker for a bright neon pink, so this guy really stood out to me with the bold choice to put the title real big and so bright. Also…Ana de Armas. Who doesn’t love that! It’s got a nice spot gloss on the front and back, with some iridescent foil in the eyeglass to catch your eye. Steel gives you a bit extra with some nice title embossing to round it all out, although I would personally like a better design than the movie poster for this. Still looks nice though!

3. Into the Spiderverse - Amazon Japan Exclusive

Hopefully an Amazon exclusive is ok to add, Amazon being a less than nice company and all. This is just one of my few non-steel “premiums” and god is it just so sexy. This is one of my favorite movies and this edition so nicely encapsulates the unique art style used in the movie, putting unique art on every single square inch of real estate given. Love how the card in the center gives you even MORE art when you’ve got the dvd case and extras box out. Not everything is a hit though. The rainbow logo is fairly ugly, but hey, can’t all be a win.

2. The Goonies - Cinemuseum

Another if my favorite movies, and a classic at that, Cinemuseum really delivers a beautiful premium here giving you a nice triple doozy of spot gloss, foil stamping, AND embossing. The that the art in the front isn’t the typical poster art you see everywhere (no hate to Drew Struzan and his original poster, it’s just TOO recognizable). Really love the bright blue accent to accent the overall more natural color tones everywhere else. The back features a nice gruesome stop using inappropriate language of One-eyed Willie, and what more isn’t too like about that. The steel uses your typical movie poster, but heck, a little bit of classic art ain’t bad. Plus they elevate it by giving you some great embossing, bringing that title out for ya. The back also has embossing, but honestly it leaves more to be desired.

1. Amazing Spiderman - Weet

This guy is probably my favorite in my collection so far. Spiderman is my favorite super hero, and Andrew Garfield my favorite Spider man (Tom Holland close behind). You probably would’ve gotten one premium from each era if they weren’t all Weet. What can I say about this guy? It’s just so beautiful. The slip is simple in its art choice, but bold in its execution. This thing is chock full of texture with a nice accent of spot gloss. I just can’t stop running my fingers along it when it’s in my hands. The steel, while no embossing, is probably the hottest steel I’ve seen. The way the spot metallic finish catches the light had me drooling when I first took it out. This thing did not disappoint. Now if only I could find the second one for a good price (and Tobey Spiderman 2 and 3, and Tom Spiderman 1 and 2).

TLDR: Everything is awesome!
