I'm personally a fan of the 70th Anniv Big Box set that came out 10 years ago.

There were a number of classic films that got this treatment, such as;

- Ben Hur

-Ten Commandments

- Lawrence of Arabia

- Willy Wonka

- Sound of Music, and

a number of others.

I bought most, if not all of them, heh.

Only Blus back then but that is/was fine.  😉

I wish they would bring back these kinds of sets.

I own all of those there and the ones for Singin' In The Rain.

@hansreinhardt The book in the "Casablanca" set contains 60 pages worth of production notes, script excerpts and rare set drawings + behind-the-scenes photos.

A fantastic collector's edition for a fantastic film.

Fantastic edition, congratulations!!!

It would be great to have a series of elegant editions like that but in 4K, with these nice goodies, all following an aesthetic line and a size. As a collection of historical monuments, because in reality - at least some of those films - they are historical monuments.

And I don't know why...now I started to think that this would be a task for UHD Club.

did all of those editions you list come from the same publisher?  Or just anniv editions from the studios?

These were special anniversary releases that came from different studios during that time.

These are the true "premiums" if you ask me.

I love the Steels but the extra stuff in these is a real draw for me.  I can’t believe how inexpensive they still are. Looks like they made 250k of Sound of Music.

besides the ones above, what others were released in this format?   Ten Commandments looks like it’s a dif type box.

thanks.

Treeeeeeemennnndddddouuussssssss!

How much thread cred would I get for buying all of these at once?  aye?

All of these are canonic and deserve this type of treatment, imho.

The question is . . . . Next anniversary . . . big box . . . . lots a goodies . . .. 4k Steelbook? . . . ugh.

btw . . . can you create a tagline for your avatar?  didn't see it as option.  Mine would be "steelbook honeymoon phase"

We were able to have taglines underneath our avatars, but I think that option was removed after major updates to the site were rolled out.

I guess the next best thing is to incorporate that stuff into your signature, which people like to do alongside their banner.
