It looks pretty similar to the Collectong pictures.  Basically shaped like rocks for the base.  The monolith is pretty heavy.  Not sure how stable it would be if set up.  Still have it in the package.  Probably won't be opening it.

2001: A Space Odyssey from Manta Lab. Thanks to @Masterblasterand crew for the group buy and safe and fast shipping! This release is nearly perfect, even better than their The Batman release last year. 

Pictures really can't do this release justice: You've all seen how beautiful the full slip is, but the Double-Lenti is also fantastic with great depth and clarity. The Steelbook is beautiful. I really do wish Manta would have included a third slip instead of the Monolith but even that looks good and has a heavy feel to it. 

All of you on team keep it sealed are really missing out on holding this beautiful release in your hands, but that's what I'm here for! #Teamopenitup

What are your thoughts on the base of the monolith?  I think this is the first live shot I've seen out of the case.  The shading and texture did not look great in the beauty shots, but it looks much better in your pic.

I think it looks good, and has a good texture. It's not Sideshow or Iron Studios level quality, but I was still surprised by how good it turned out. It's connected via magnet, which makes it more stable when displayed.

Yeah, that was my question, you answered exactly what I wanted to know.   I've said this before, but it looked a little poorly shady sculpey to me from the pics.  I didn't get the OC, just the two single editions, not really regretting it.  Thanks @ncraft.

Oh, thank goodness! I thought this was a new 2001 announcement. Instead it's a great set of photos. Still haven't decided whether to open or not.
