I usually enjoy seeing B&W editions released of some particular films and any film that hearkens back to the days of '50s sci-fi, is certainly one that I pay attention to, as it's one of my all time fave genres.

All that said, the artwork displayed above, just does not work for me, if this is their intent.

If one were to peruse some of the original '50s sci-fi artwork provided for some of their more noted releases, I think you would discover a bit more passion in each panel, simply because they knew this was their ONE SHOT to sell the feature to a perhaps skeptical audience.

Though the artwork is essentially the same as the colour artwork, it doesn't translate well, it seems to be missing the 'oomph' usually provided to "sell it".

I dunno, maybe I'm being a bit too jaded here but I did want to voice my opinion on something that I have great affection for (this film). 😉

I'll no doubt get it and suspect in-hand, it may prove far more alluring but my concerns I just wished to share.

I kinda agree @Grendel. But I do think this will be one of those cases where the beauty shot doesn't do justice to the finished product. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
