At one time this was in perfect condition.  It was stored in a plastic case in a closet in the basement with humidity 46-47%.

Maybe it was caused from the oils on my hands, although the steelbook was not touched more than a few times.

It was a beauty before the rust, and difficult to see this happen.

Also noticed a few others with tiny rust marks on the corners.  Thankfully only a few, but definitely going to keep an eye on them and might move them to another location to see if that helps.

Anybody else see this happen or have any ideas to prevent this.  Will be using gloves from now on.  I guess they are metal and will eventually rust but 3-4 years seems very early.

I've not seen that before in a steelbook, but have on metal based toys. Are you in a humid area? I know humidity isn't good for Metal (learned it the hard way).

Yeah man, this sucks.  I'd be curious to know if others have experienced this as well.  It may make me rethink my casual approach to storage.

Veum’s swollen knee update…

still swollen but with less intensity if I stay off my feet… pain threshold was 10+, now maybe 9 🫤

Finally caved-in to see doc tomorrow (it has been 2 weeks now), but I know won’t find out WHY this happened out of the blue, maybe at least get some pain medication, we’ll see… yard work is definitely out of the question and on hold! 😞

Updated report…

Sorry Mike.  No fun at all.  Hope the doc sorts you out.

If not, maybe some other painkillers?  🤣

In the midwest so outside humidity is definitely an issue in summer.  Just started monitoring the humidity with a hygrometer and reading 46-47% in the basement currently, so curently under 50%.  Will have to keep an eye on it during the summer.

I was reading that matte steelbooks tend to be more affected, so might be moving most of those upstairs at least temporarily until I find a specific cause and solution.

Any ocd I ever had with steelbooks is now gone.  Best Buy scratching, spine slashing, and denting nearly all steelbooks started me down the path of caring less.  But now even if the steelbook survives Best Buy or another retailer's shipping, I still then have to worry about mother nature rusting the darn thing.

Thank goodness most of my money is in premium cardboard that won't rust. 😅.

It's always a gamble in the mail for sure. With mine coming from overseas, I'm so used to some kind of damage. I'm actually shocked when there isn't some.

Good morning/afternoon everyone.

I hope you are being happy, and adding to many GBs. Remember that if you don't, you are more likely to feel envy, envy leads to resentment, resentment leads to anger, your body gets out of control, you feel bad, you start taking too many anxiolytics, and you end up dying like the mother in "Requiem for a dream".

Corollary: Health and happiness go together, happiness and GBs go together, therefore, health and GBs go together. It's science, don't doubt it.

Have a good day!
