Ughhhh...definitely plan on getting the criterion WKW boxset and don’t want to double dip on any of the releases. This would be really tough if it was 4K

My thoughts exactly. The main reason I held back buying the Criterion Set was the hope for Novamedia releasing these movies in 4K.

Curious for the beautyshots now. If the edition is a beauty and we get a decent amount of english friendly special features  I might be persuaded to bite though.

Yup! I'm with you on that. I can definitely be persuaded with immaculate packaging and special features but it's going to have to be an above-average release from NM

Going to sell my criterion of this, go for a full slip, and hopefully snag the box set during the 1/2 off sale. Happy to double dip. His movies have really moved me as of late.

ITMFL is one of the most breathtakingly told Lovestories I have ever seen. I admire the beauty of every frame the elegance of the haunting score and the art of telling most

of the protagonists emotions through gentle gestures and looks instead of the banality of words. A timeless, bittersweet masterpiece that lingers in your mind.

I know they have done A Brighter Summer Day before but I am still pleasently surprised they are going for 3 arthouse films in a row. 

 

Edit: For those who have never heard of this gem: On the BFI Critics list of greatest movies of all time it is ranked 24th. It's one of the best films ever made.

Brighter Summer Day should be here next week. And I think two more WKW movies after this one. Exciting to get some arthouse steelbooks as well. Nice to see nova diversifying their releases.

I think if they’re alternating releases like this with Apocalypse Now and John Wick or the previous avengers releases, they should probably be okay. At least I hope!

That would be great since I love the WCL/Mlife selections but they lack the steelbooks treatment.
