Once apron a time, the city I live in literally had pub for every day of the year! I sh*t you not. Sadly they close up or change owners frequently now, and now we are over run with "Bars" and not Pubs.

The village I live in just outside the city has 3 local pubs remaining, all of which I frequent and enjoy pub crawling on a weekend. My one I visit the most is The Crown which has great beer but is a bit ropey. It's changed hands too many times but it's a stones throw from my house.

My fav though is The Bush. A proper pub stuck in a time warp, where the punters are always the same locals, the pub doesn't accept card payments! Cash only, and has a huge secluded beer garden that backs onto a river. Heaven in the summer months. ???

My favourite local is "The Locks"

Down a dirt track next to the river. In the winter if the river floods, the pub is marooned. ?

Also on cold winter evenings, the mist settles in the valley around the river and pub. It is dense up to a depth of  3 feet, but above it will be a clear sky. It looks like all those Ghost/Horror films. Very eerie. ?

Then if you are really unlucky....

You bump into me !!!!

A Guest Ale is something that the Bar stocks as a Special type thing Nef .

The pubs are normally supplied by a Brewery that supplies its own stock . So a guest Ale is out of a nothr Brewery ? .

Our Local now is The Pig Or The Miners Welfare .

Now back in the day I was an out and out bar fly over the road from where we live now ??.

STONEYS  Before that it was The Sheradan Club A  Elite Strip club that was before my time propping up the bar

Fortunately or Unfortunately for me its now an office building ? .

Some GREAT times in thire when I was single , so much so I have no regrets and not missing that life now ?.

@nefilim

I would not pull your leg at all over this .

The Pub is known as The Pig . It's official name is and I have just had to look it up =The Holmewood Hotel.

You say that to anyone local and thire reply would be WHAT ??? .

And the other in walking Distance is The Miners Welfare Holmewood .

Way Back you had to be a Miner or hive a Miner sponsor you to become a member to be able to go in and drink thire .

Some Miners welfare's still do that today .

I haven't been in thire for ohhh 25 years ? .

One of my favourites ever was The Mucky Duck Shirebrook , its a houseing estate now ??

Hey @nefilim what kind of beers and lagers  do you have in Finland , is it expensive , I would imagine it is , beer over here is averaging about £3 a pint on draught and bottled beer is expensive in pubs but if you buy it from the super markets its half the price ......I know you like your white wine is that expensive too.....?

I drink beer from time to time. There are nice beers all sorts. I like usually lite or lite dark like Czech Kozel. And actually they are not too expensive in stores. Pubs are another matter. One can get beers from all over the world easily here.
