Thanks very much my friend @Mad-martigan ! 🥰

I attempted a few 'google' searches after reading your post and all I kept finding was paperbacks (that are not very appealing) so I do appreciate you providing the info and the link.

The price actually isn't as steep as I anticipated but I did notice at "Etsy's" web-site they had a few examples of pricier versions.

I'll take some time and peruse all the offers.

Thanks once more buddy, much appreciated!

I grew up with movies like The entity, The exorcist, The changeling and pretty much anything starting with "The" and finishing with me going to bed both mesmerised and scared s**t! I used to make ouija boards and at night I would sneak into the cemetery where my grandpa worked as gate-keeper. My metalhead uncle was a fan of George A. Romero and fed my healthy fascination with satanic messages (supposedly) hidden in songs played backward. So yes, at one point I really was convinced it was possible to get in touch with the devil. The footprint of my childhood is obviously there but I swear I didnt get the Novem Portis hoping to meet a smoke hot, green eyed fallen angel, honest...🙄

I've never been interested in the occult or bizarre for their own sake but they do make for some tingling fun stories and fliks.

Long time fan of Poe, Lovecraft, and Wells but also Chaucer, Goethe, Milton, et al.

As some of us have discussed in another thread, Poe and Lovecraft were given good service by the Corman/Price team up for a number of films, Wells has seen predominantly his sci-fi adapted but also "Island of Dr Moreau" and we can thank Chaucer for the film "Seven", Goethe for the myriad "Faust" related fliks and Milton for damn near everything else to do with the devil.

Curiosity akin to that of a 13 year old discovering pornhub for the first time perhaps but not sufficient enough to become dedicated to it, heh. 🧛‍♂️

^^^ @Grendel I grew up as a little one in the 60’s as a naive, innocent & sheltered boy from the evil outside world, however my mom got us kids into subtle horror as I’ve said many times w/my beloved Universal Classics Monsters... i.e. Wolf Man, Dracula, etc. very early. It was so innocent in those days and as soon as we watched those the next morning (Saturday) we watched cartoons all morning and we were never influenced from those “horror” films one iota!😊😇

I so enjoyed my childhood, one that I’ll cherish until I move on to my next life (although it was severely marred when my father died when I was 8 yrs. young & my mother at 15 respectively & my life was tragically shattered for some time as you can imagine 😪).

Long live innocence, which our children in this day & age severely need!!🙏

I agree, @Veum. we should treasure and shelter the innocence of our children to ensure a safe transition without traumas into the adult world. Life will shape them to some extent but the core from early years will remain.

I was raised by my single mother until I met my father as a teenager. She did a terrific job, with all her flaws, and I can only hope to do the same with my little ones, with all my flaws (which are a few to many, Im afraid!)
I think respect, empathy and validation are key. She never discouraged me when I was more drawn to horror stories, for instance, rather than The famous five or Pippi longstockimg (which I think are great kid's readings). She introduced me Stephen King, J.J.Benítez, but also Lorca and Neruda. The rest came naturally: Wells, Lovecraft, Poe, Brave New world, Lord of the flies, Kafka, Cortázar..
By the time I was at highschool my taste for literature and other arts had branched out. But I will always remember watching Night of the living dead or Invasion of the body snatchers with my uncle when I wasnt suppose to. Or The andromeda strain and even the brutal "Who can kill a child?"with my mother.
Perhaps thats why I still enjoy sooo much a horror-flick. Hopefully one day I will share it with my own kids, and if the dont care? well, I can always make a deal with the devil... 😋

The topic of what children should watch at each age is as interesting as it is deep and sinuous. My opinion is that nowadays children are overly protected, we make them idiots by taking them away from everything and then, when they are teenagers, throwing them suddenly into the world.

Being a child I watched movies that no child watches today, and whose parents would be very criticized today. And that did not make me a worse person, or a psychopath. If so, I would be in a forum for psychopaths from the movies & goodies telling them my personal opinion on what children should see, while spending a lot of money on movies I already had. ;)

By the way, I love this movie,  "The ninth gate" is not a masterpiece, but I have a great time whenever I watched it, and I'm glad that I will finally have an edition like that.

PS: At what age can a child watch The Shining? Nightmare in Elm street? Love Actually with two people pretending to do light tests for a porn? And Clockwork Orange? And a western full of dead and blood? Was Nolan right saying childrens can appreciate "2001, A Space Odyssey" easier than we can? He show it to his son when he was six years old. At what age can you see "Wild at Heart?". A Star Is Born? Godfellas? Well, it's a complicated issue, and with many different points of view. Maybe another thread.

PS: And is any of those options better or worse than a Disney Channel series where the only important thing in life is clothes, appearances, and getting likes? When the idea that is conveyed is that the most important thing about going on vacation is not having fun, but having something to upload to Instagram ... What is really harmful for children?

Guest Transfer

Does anybody know if this is the same transfer as the already available USA release? That version is not so great. I was hoping it might be a better on. Thanks for any info.

The lionsgate does have dts-hd. I once wrote to the criterion collection suggesting they make a blu ray version of the ninth gate. I didn't get a reply lol at least I tried.

I have a current order for (2) John Wick 3 that was ordered right when the Covid thing started to happen. And I usually do K-Pak. But they aren’t shipping K-Pak at the moment due to restrictions, so they are holding it til they can ship it, the only other way to get it right now is EMS, and I’m not paying the extra money to ship it now, I can wait.

Anyway what I’m trying to say is I’m waiting to order anything from them until I can get K-Pak shipping, and this will be at the top of my list when I can.

I'm in same boat as @RAK at the moment @Basil.

Yes, I ordered direct and quite a few others as well.

EMS would be a big financial hit and I wager, would attract the attention of Canada Customs as well.

So, I'm patiently awaiting my orders to come whenever they can ship K-pack again.

If I had a Bigger order I would of done EMS, but It’s not financially feasible for just a couple Blu-Rays.
