The Good , The Bad And The Ugly OF THE Zombie Movie Genre ...

Favourite zombie film series is still resident evil. Been around for a long time

IMO it's pretty funny/sad (how ever you look at it) that Mr Zombie himself George Romero has become the good the bad and the ugly in Zombie movie business. He used to make cool films. Lately prettu much crap. Now he's planning The Road of The Dead. Where zombies are driving in Nascar like races while humans watch.

And he blamed once that World War Z destroyed zombie films. WTF ?!

My favourite is WWZ the way it is aproched from the forensic point of view made it a more credible watch .

Shaun Of The Dead is the biggest send up and works so well on lots of levels , I LOVE Shaun .

The Girl With All The Gifts is well worth a mention for quite a low budget its a cracking watch .

George A Romeo was the originator lots have followed in his steps , of his the stand out was Day Of The Dead .

Resident Evil they tried to follow the games too late in the frachise . The last 2 I watched in fast forward ?.

Apocalypse and Extinction are my ?? as the eye candy of Ohed Fehr seals that one ??.

Road Of The Dead I think they watched the end bit of Shaun Of The Dead a bit too much if that's in the pipeline.

For me Zombie movies begin and end with the original Dawn Of The Dead, by far Romeros masterpiece with great effects by the Legendary Tom Savini. Everything else after that is just a variation of that film.

I gotta agree with @nefilim it's a sad day when the man responsible for basically every Zombie film after Dawn, makes such utter ubbish now. Land of The Dead being the only watchable exception.

Outside of Dawn I did enjoy Zombieland, which basically copies much of the themes in Dawn but plays them "mostly" for laughs. I will admit that it's the cast that makes the film though, they got the right team to make the film work. I hope there isn't a sequel as for me its a good stand alone film that worked, leave it there.

 

Off topic, but I gotta say @nefilim it seems to be a trend. Romero starts the genre we know today, now makes crap. Argento started the modern Slasher film and Craven, Carpenter etc all acknowledge he was the original, and oh look he now makes crap!

Really enjoyed The Girl With All The Gifts especially the horrible horrible infection!
