Don't know how to spend your Valentine's Day? How about by watching a nice slasher movie such as Candyman? Turbine Media is releasing this movie in three different cover artworks, which will have identical content. However, covers A and C feature new, exclusively commissioned drawings, while cover B has the famous German VHS cover artwork. Also Cover C is exclusive to Turbine Media only and cannot be bought in any other shop. It is the same new 4K master that has been used in USA and UK and that was created by Scream Factory. However, it's the first time that this version is released in Germany. For the VHS there only existed a FSK-16 cut version as well as an R-Rated version. The R-Rated version was later also released to DVD and in 2016 there was the Blu-ray Mediabook with the typical international movie poster (the bee in the eye) that also only featured the R-Rated cut. The Unrated version has more or less the same length, but features some scenes in different takes or other angles to hide some more gruesome bloody images. Turbines release brings the original Unrated cut back to Germany. This edition will also feature three audio commentaries (the same that where released with the Scream Factory release), a couple of interviews with cast and crew and a booklet, that is - unfortunately for all you international readers - only in German language.

In Germany, Turbine is pretty famous for it's battles against our BPjM - a federal agency that will censor or confiscate movies in Germany if they are deemed to violent. As the social standards are not the same as they used to be in the 80s or earlier, Turbine uses legal ways to force re-evaluation of such movies (including titles like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Last House on the Left, Mark of the Devil, or Crying Freeman that Turbine already managed to get re-evaluated and released in Germany). With all their titles they strive to be the first to release them in Germany (on Blu-ray) all together or at least in the longest/uncut version, and often they are also the first to do so, worldwide.

Candyman is an American horror movie by Bernard Rose that is based on the short story by Clive Barker (Hellraiser), telling the urban legend of Candyman, the son of an African slave, who loved and impregnated a white girl, and was therefore killed gruesomely by the father of that girl. Urban legend has it, that his ghost lived on and can be summoned by saying his name five times in a mirror. Here's the trailer:
