group buy prices once known.......

right this is a little bit of question slash moan slash improvement, but youll see why for reasons below so please read all of it before having a go and see why.

 

so i start with tags @DodgyDave@extantsrevenge@Masterblaster@ksosk

 

right i was looking thru the classfieds at some releases and each person is entitlted to ask what price for what ever they like i get that firstly.

one person was asking $825 for two items, i went to check the gb info section for cost price of that particular gb just cost of products and no shipping as i wanted an idea of orginal cost price to my amazement there was no info of the cost price of the gb.

then it dawned on me all gb prices are done on the basis of private commincation by email as to what each person owes fair enough.

 

what i would like to see on each groupbuy on the info section first post, which i think is reasonable to ask is once a price is known for each edition than they be posted there without any shipping costs and then they sit for future referance.

as currently with the classfied system there is no way of checking quiet how much extra you are being asked for or if that is fair or just outragous.

i get people goto make money thats there choice but by the same token, i think it is fair that gb prices could be put up in that first post to give people an idea of where it started too and they know quite how much extra is being asked of them.

otherwise it would mean only ebay can truely reflect prices of what is reasonable, but some help from the orginal groupbuys prices would improve the situation here and probabely improve the use of the classfied section as it currently stands it has put me off using it for now. im not saying all are like that but without any form of referance its a big ask.

this really needs to be done to give both sides a fair crack of the whip if you see where im coming from, so people on both sides get all relevant info.

 

example i gave i just checked ebay for same two items can be had £375 so you can obviously see how classfied is being used by some. im not against people making money but it would be nice if MP gave us the tools without have to check ebay or people just use ebay instead in the end and not the classfieds at all.

In my opinion it is irrelevant what the original GB price was. 
Where the forces of supply and demand are at play, I think that knowing the original GB price, only causes conflict. 
Members should pay what they think the item is worth to them. Not what appears ‘fair’ compared to the original GB price.
They should do their homework like you have @Basil, and cross check eBay against the asking price in the classifieds on MP. 

That is my opinion. Not necessarily the view of others. 👍

I know you're talking about my add where I want to sell my 3 DK box sets and motherbox as a complete set (SO 4 ITEMS, NOT 2!).

I find it very, very disrespectful to react in that add with a 'lmao' smiley and then start a topic about it. I was already wondering what the reason was for this. Apparently this is your ''way''

 

SECOND..., check your sources BETTER, where it's impossible to get these box sets and motherbox for the GB price you're adding to your post (£375?!? - I paid almost double!). Did you never paid shipping, customs etc etc.? I paid 28 euros per box for customs alone....!!! Do you know what shipping costs from US to the Netherlands? 

 

Did you check Ebay for exactly the same items, I don't think so.... Because my price is the same -or cheaper than most of the adds on the bay for the same set.

 

SO, next time contact me when YOU have doubts about my honesty before being disrespectful!!! Or sell your stop using inappropriate language for cost price or less yourself....

I was replying to @Basil tagging me with his suggestion about making GB prices available for members to use, when considering the cost of something in the classifieds.

My concern is not to disrespect anyone at all, I thought the consensus was on trying to get a better/fair price for editions then what is usually on eBay!

 

I’ve been looking/longing to sell some of my BDs/DVDs (maybe some Premium exclusives 🤔), however I’ve never sold anything as I’ve been very apprehensive, because I’m not that familiar with the process.

 

As far as prices, it would help me to compare what other peeps are putting their particular editions up for so I could sell mine at a fair price... just my two-cents worth to you all... “RANT”  over! 😉

@larson1977 sorry I had no idea it was an accusation to someone specific...

 

I was just responding to that in general and it was how I have been thinking about selling mine for awhile...

 

I thought it just sounded like the info I was thinking about, not anyone specific (as this is not my character, nor would I ever do that to anyone, EVER!)!

 

The thing too is Basil never mentioned anyone’s name, so I would have never known who it was he was specifying nor would it reflect for me on anyone at all! 😏

To be honest I don’t check the classifieds. I certainly didn’t check what exactly Basil was referring to. 
As I said, I was replying to a tag about making GB prices available for cross reference when buying from the classifieds. The fact that you are taking it personally just enforces my point again.

Imo GB prices are irrelevant like @DodgyDave said.

 

Regarding the Batman Trilogy....i think it was about 600€ in the end for me (3x Boxset + Motherbox). And since they are all sold out and the demand is high I think @larson1977 's price was totally reasonable. I couldn't find any cheaper on the internet too.

I just want to say that I’ve purchased from @larson1977 and he’s honest and reliable with fair prices. 
 

As others have said I don’t think listing old GB prices is all that helpful (unless you want to feel bad for missing one!) I had to pay big bucks on eBay to fill a few holes in my collection and knowing that the retail price was far less didn’t help any. If you want something check eBay history and make a decision based on what you can afford!
 

Also, knowing retail price doesn’t tell you what the seller paid in shipping, fees, and customs duties which makes a big difference. 
 

Lastly, anyone who has been around a while should already know what a Blufans, HDZeta, etc costs within a few dollars. I keep a spreadsheet of all my GBs and prices haven’t changed all that much.

Sometimes the thing is i say this all of the time typeing it can and does carry no chance emphasising any tone .

Too an experienced negotiator the original Retail price is never completely irrelevant. Knowing the original price of any item can give you a starting point on how low you make an offer or if you bother making a offer at all. 

 

Me personally I never want to cheat a seller or give off the impression that I’m trying to low ball them so having a idea of what the item originally sold for allows me to not BS a seller when sending them a offer. 

 

Paying what the item is worth to any individual is sometimes based off what the original price was. Knowing all the facts on an item is important to deciding on if it’s worth it to any particular person. 

 

Now with all that said you are absolutely right when saying that knowing original prices can cause conflict, but I believe that is only in extreme cases. Most sensible buyers won’t ever antagonize a seller just because they “think” their item is priced to high. Most will just go on about their business & be without.

 

Also as an FYI to all the Psychos who read this I believe the prices in our Classified section are way way more reasonable than Ebay prices. If you need to Fill a whole in your collection you definitely should look here first.

My fellow Psycho I understand why you got upset. When I first read @Basil starting comment I immediately thought of you when he mentioned the price $825. Now I strongly figured he was speaking about you, but my own personal thoughts wasn’t negative of you. I know just from being a experienced buyer of theses items that what you have your box set listed as is very reasonable, & I believe that anybody that is seeking out what you are selling would also realize that too. For whatever reason @Basil misunderstood your listing. I don’t believe he started this thread to give other Psychos the idea that you are a shady seller. I think he just used your price as an example to get a point across, but he probably shouldn’t have because some people could read his comments the wrong way, but I didn’t. I also believe @DodgyDave & @Veum definitely didn’t mean any harm towards you either. A lot of this seems like misunderstandings.

 

@larson1977 I believe you don’t have any thing to worry about because from what I have seen you are very reasonable with your prices so I’m most definitely sure you will have your items sold in the future no problem.
