Dear Collectors,

please kindly know that FOX has started collecting orders on WWA generic SteelBook TERMINATOR: DARK FATE. At the moment it is guaranteed that 4K UHD and 2D Blu-ray discs are guaranteed for the release. I wait for the confirmation of 3D Blu-ray and Bonus Blu-ray.

awesome news, now we only need an announcement for 4 as well, so that all Terminator are released from one Premium label 😍. @DodgyDave you agree 👌

Good news. Hopefully the new movie lives up to my expectations. I'm not expecting another T1 or T2 but just a good effort would be nice. 😁 I have faith in Tim Miller

Yes. I agree totally.

It would also be nice if HDz picked this up and did T2 at the same time. That would plug that hole too. :D

FAC had mentioned plans for a release of Terminator: Dark Fate (Lmtd Ed.) back in February.

Do we have any knowledge if they still plan to go through with this release in the future?

Ta! 🙂

Moved your topic to the RT, as it might also interest other members.

Terminator: Dark Fate is under Fox distribution in Czech. With the purchase of Fox through Disney all Fox titles are delayed because they are currently deciding which Czech distributor will handle Fox titles in the future.

One can only presume that the greedy studio is asking far too much money for the rights.

All we can do is hope that, in time, the studio decides that a little money is better than none. Or they sell the rights to someone else, and FA can deal with them.

With HDz it's more complicated, because they have to do T2 yet !

I'm definitely going to have to think about losing one of the unfinished collections. I can't cope with two !

In line with their (arrogant) way of doing business in a collectors industry. Exactly the reason why I've said bye bye to being a FAC completist. A shame because their product quality is one of the best out there but their releases are 80% movies which loosed their momentum, movies released by other retailers months, sometimes even years before them and now again; incomplete franchises.  Not the way to do business in this industry IMO :(

To be honest, it was a shite film. The series was dead after T2

The rest of the films were a bad money spinning excuse, and they milked it to the extent that even if they were to make a cracking film - so much franchise fatigue has set in! Terminator 3 had a nice T-chick, Terminator Salvation was a joke, Genesis was passable due to one scene (two Arnies at each other).

And don't even mention the Sarah Connor chronicles

The whole concept of this particular film was absurd. Who could have thought the the stone cold, cold blooded Terminators shown in T1 and T2, could mellow down on their old age, develop a guilty conscience and start helping humans and become Sarah Connor sympathisers. These are Terminators for feck sake. They are at their best when (and I quote) "cannot be bargained with, cannot be reasoned with".

That said, I would have liked Hdz to complete the set. The only way I wold have brought this was on Hdz

The film does not warrant a premium purchase for any other reason than a box completion exercise.

I haven’t seen the film yet, but at least I now know the plot. ;)

There is a more serious point to this though.
What is happening here is an extension of what is happening with Blufans and Marvel/Disney.
Studios are demanding far too much money for physical rights. Digital rights are much cheaper, but having something you can watch on an iPad is useless to collectors.

I for one have no intention of streaming films. I want the disc. 3D, 4k or whatever.

Now, perhaps we can understand the greed of Disney for Star Wars and Marvel etc, but you would think the studios would be glad to shift physical copies of what is clearly an unpopular film.
At some point the studios will realise they are losing income by not supporting retailers. If not, then our (Collectors) future is with disc-less releases for those titles that belong to the greedy studios  like Disney/Fox.

Good point @DodgyDave, perhaps disc-less editionsveould not be such a bad thing (if it works out cheaper e.g the recent Frozen 2 Fanatics). Discs can easily be topped up.

But even for disc less releases, wouldn't premium retailers still have to pay something to release the studio's title?

OR would they pay  significantly less than releading a disc version?

The discs are where the rights are attached.

The cost of permissions for art and other media are low in comparison.

^^ I could live with disc-less Premium editions as I've already bought some

i.e. BR 2049 and IT

It would not be my go-to preference, as somebody still needs to make a disc to put in it (for my liking) so now I'm buying two (or more) copies of the film.

Yes, I could track down preferred versions, 4K /3D/ Blu/extras but that's potentially extra work.

I then need to hope that the inner case, be it Steel or Scanovo, will hold those discs.

It's a messy compromise.

Hopefully, it remains a rare occurrence.

As for T:6, looks like I'll need to look elsewhere but I will pick up some iteration.

I doubt I'll watch the disc though. 🙂

Didn't hdz cancel it as well?

They certainly dropped it. But I'm not sure it was officially cancelled.

I'm hoping they pick it up again down the road. Same with T2.

As the HDz Gold Label Box Sets are in a set theme and size etc, I'm praying that one day they do finish the set. At least T2 and preferably T6 too, as Arnie is in it.

Plus I have the four so far with matching #, and the collector OCD in me wants to complete that. Much like I waited so long for MoS to complete that phase of DC Gold Label sets.

I'm not really that bothered that FA dropped it. Their T releases have been a right mess of editions, and they still have to do T4 anyway.

But it would be a real shame for collectors if Hdz didn't at least do T2 and then T6 in the future.
