  1. It seems that some new to the world of 4K could benefit from suggestions from fellow members in helping them to set up their systems so they can fully experience all the format has to offer. This is a call to all members, first to discuss your equipment (specific TV & 4K player models) and what settings you've used to sync them and calibrate. Any recommendations on calibration kits for members are also appreciated. Though some insist on professional calibration, there are plenty of tools out there for the average enthusiast to get the job done. Second, this is where those new to 4K can ask questions about their specific hardware and how best to optimize it for your own viewing spaces.

  3. was looking for some older films but trying to see if they had a 4k release yet, unfortunately for me they are only available on standard blu ray. basically for me if i cant get a steelbook of films im having to go for the amaray which is a shame, i would always prefer high end packaging. but im slowly looking to 4k releases rather than 3d now, currently i have a high end blu ray player but not a 4k tv yet. i bought my telly a while back as was a little bit of a sneaky mission at the time, i even invited the wife to come along when i went to 'look' anyway i ended up with a 3d 2d tv and got shot down at the time for buying that as you do but is my one spending in life on films, that i have for me. dont drink loads dont smoke anymore. but in a nutshell i can not replace this telly as works fine atm. so as buying new films trying to head more on 4k format for future proofing as my next telly will be a 4k. anyway question is are there any films you want or need in 4k? a good site for finding release dates for 4k is below https://www.dvdsreleasedates.com/4k-uhd-blu-rays/ ones i have on the way to me atm is jojo rabbit only released in the states for example i also like second world wars films just got a bridge over the river kwai was a bargain im also waiting for LOTR 4k due out later this year. so are any of you heading onto a 4k mission for films or would you say you happy with standard blu ray for example? basil

  10. Release Date : Sold Out ! Price : Varies Purchase Link : Amazon.co.uk (3rd party sellers) Notes : Cd. Booklet. Poster. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WERE REALLY SCARED!!!? From Dario Argento, maestro of the macabre and the man behind some the greatest excursions in Italian horror (Suspiria, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage), comes Deep Red arguably the ultimate giallo movie. One night, musician Marcus Daly (David Hemmings, Blow Up), looking up from the street below, witnesses the brutal axe murder of a woman in her apartment. Racing to the scene, Marcus just manages to miss the perpetrator... or does he? As he takes on the role of amateur sleuth, Marcus finds himself ensnared in a bizarre web of murder and mystery where nothing is what it seems... Aided by a throbbing score from regular Argento-collaborators Goblin, Deep Red (aka Profondo Rosso and The Hatchet Murders) is a hallucinatory fever dream of a giallo punctuated by some of the most astonishing set-pieces the sub-genre has to offer. Starring Richard Conte as Garcos and Lee J. Cobb as the object of his hate-filled intentions, Thieves Highway is as tough as film noir gets. Adapting his own novel, A.I. Bezzerides (who would later bring Kiss Me Deadly to the big screen) created a slice of pure pulp poetry. 3-DISC LIMITED EDITION CONTENTS High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) presentation of two versions of the film Original Italian Mono audio English subtitles for the Italian soundtrack Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing for the English soundtrack Limited Edition soundtrack CD 6 x postcard-sized lobby card reproductions Double-sided fold-out poster featuring two original artworks Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Gilles Vranckx Limited Edition booklet featuring new writing on the film by Mikel J. 11. Apologies if this is posted elsewhere but just curious which Films you think are the best in 4K ???
  12. Release Date : Live Price : € 29.95 Purchase Link : Cdon.fi Notes : DR. STRANGELOVE IS A BRILLIANT BIT OF CELLULOID GENIUS AND A TRUE CLASSIC in every sense of the word. Nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Picture (1964), Stanley Kubrick’s black comedy about a group of paranoia-inspired, war-happy generals who manage to initiate an accidental nuclear apocalypse, is horribly frightening, delightfully funny and surprisingly relevant to this day. This is the saga of two psychotic generals: Joint Chief of Staff Buck Turgidson (George C. Scott) and Air Force Strategic Commander Jack Ripper (Sterling Hayden), who orders a bomber squadron to attack the USSR, triggering a Soviet secret weapon, the Doomsday Machine, a diabolical retaliatory missile system. Peter Sellers portrays a trio of men who attempt to avert this catastrophe: British Captain Lionel Mandrake, the only person with access to paranoid Gen. Ripper; U.S. President Muffley, whose best attempt at diverting this disaster depends on convincing a boozed-up Soviet Premier. BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION FEATURES: Restored 4K digital transfer, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack Alternate 5.1 surround soundtrack New interviews with Stanley Kubrick scholars Mick Broderick and Rodney Hill; archivist Richard Daniels; cinematographer and camera innovator Joe Dunton; camera operator Kelvin Pike; and David George, son of Peter George, on whose novel Red Alert the film is based Excerpts from a 1965 audio interview with Kubrick, conducted by Jeremy Bernstein Four short documentaries from 2000, about the making of the film, the socio-political climate of the period, the work of actor Peter Sellers, and the artistry of Kubrick Interviews from 1963 with Sellers and actor George C. Scott Excerpt from a 1980 interview with Sellers from NBC’s Today show Trailer PLUS: An essay by scholar David Bromwich and a 1962 article by screenwriter Terry Southern on the making of the film
  13. Release Date : 2017-11-20 Price : € 29.95 Purchase Link : Cdon.fi Notes : Welcome to the kingdom of Terry Gilliam: his solo-directing debut, a gonzo medieval comedy… Amid the filth and muck of England in the Dark Ages, a fearsome dragon stalks the land, casting a shadow of terror upon the kingdom of Bruno the Questionable. Who should emerge as the town’s only possible saviour but Dennis Cooper (Life of Brian’s MICHAEL PALIN), an endearingly witless bumpkin who stumbles onto the scene and is flung into the role of brave knight? The first outing as a solo director by TERRY GILLIAM (Brazil)—inspired by Lewis Carroll’s poem “Jabberwocky” and made on the heels of Gilliam’s success as a member of the iconic comedy troupe Monty Python—showcases his delight in comic nonsense, with a cast chock-full of beloved British character actors. A giddy romp through blood and excrement, this fantasy remains one of the filmmaker’s most uproarious visions of society run amok. DIRECTOR-APPROVED SPECIAL EDITION FEATURES New 4K digital transfer from a restoration by the BFI National Archive and The Film Foundation, approved by director Terry Gilliam 5.1 surround mix, supervised by Gilliam and presented in DTS-HD Master Audio Audio commentary from 2001 featuring Gilliam and actor Michael Palin New documentary on the making of the film, featuring Gilliam, producer Sandy Lieberson, Palin and actor Annette Badland New interview with Valerie Charlton, designer of the Jabberwock, featuring her collection of rare behind-the-scenes photographs Selection of Gilliam’s storyboards and sketches PLUS: An essay by critic Scott Tobias
